Glanbia Rewards

Performance Improvement, Staff Engagement, Employee Rewards, Points Incentive, AllGifts eVouchers

The Challenge

Glanbia Ingredients operate a number of milk-based production facilities in Co. Kilkenny, employing over 1000 staff. With the scale of operations, small incremental improvements in production efficiencies and in health & safety can result in significant cost savings for Glanbia. The company wanted to encourage and reward staff for a) taking part in voluntary work groups tasked with solving production challenges, and b) for making cost-saving or process improvement suggestions to management.

Glanbia Ingredients approached Allgo to design a reward programme that would engage all employees and reward them for pro-actively contributing to the safe and efficient running of the production facilities. Glanbia also wanted a programme that could be rolled out across multiple facilities, and that would not rely on internal resources to administer.

The Programme

Allgo designed and implemented a reward programme based on AllGifts Points, where Glanbia employees can earn Glanbia Points each month for taking part in process improvement work groups and making production efficiency suggestions.

Glanbia sends Allgo a report on staff activities every month, and Allgo then awards points to staff by email and text message. Employees can build their points throughout the year, checking their balance on a branded programme website. At the end of the year, they can convert their points into AllGifts Vouchers, which can then be spent on AllGifts.ie  to order products, services, retail gift cards, or to make bookings with over 1000 of the best shops, hotels, restaurants, spas, leisure, travel & activity companies in Ireland.

Allgo manages the entire programme using its proprietary Client Reward Hub, and provides a monthly branded eZine for all employees, and quarterly management reports for Glanbia management.

The Result

Participation in the process improvement initiative has reached a new high, and Glanbia have saved significant resource costs in outsourcing the running of the reward programme to Allgo.

Also, as points are awarded and banked all year, and only redeemed in December, the programme is highly tax efficient. This is because it avails of the Small Benefit Scheme to make all year-end vouchers tax-free for both employees and the company.
