The Challenge
Calor Gas is the leading supplier and distributor of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) in Ireland, allowing customers who are located off the natural gas grid use LPG gas for power and heat. Calor employs almost 300 staff in 6 sites located throughout the island of Ireland, serving approximately 50,000 customers across residential and industrial commercial sectors.
Calor Gas had availed of the Small Benefit Scheme for employees in the past by using single-retailer or multi-retailer gift cards. Following employee feedback, Calor Gas searched the market for a gift card that would give more choice to employees, while still qualifying for the Small Benefit Scheme.
The Solution
Calor Gas selected the Allgo Rewards Mastercard gift card to provide their annual tax-free reward to employees.
Depending on the employee’s length of service, Allgo provided cards ranging in value from €40 to €500. The cards were presented in personalised envelopes with the employee’s name on the outside.
The cards were delivered in bulk to two Calor Gas locations within 7 days of ordering. Calor Gas HR then managed the internal distribution of the cards, ensuring that employees received their cards at the start of December, in perfect time for Christmas shopping season.
On receiving the cards, the employees could spend them straight away, saving time and hassle in the busy festive period. The Allgo Rewards Gift Card is a universal gift card that can be used instore and online wherever the Mastercard© Acceptance Mark is displayed.
The Result
Employees were delighted with the cards as they could be used in an unlimited number of stores (particularly in all supermarkets in the run up to the Christmas season), and online. For sheer convenience and choice, the Allgo Rewards gift cards delivered a hugely improved service for staff.
For Calor Gas HR, the ordering and delivery went smoothly and on time, allowing the cards to be distributed quickly and accurately with the minimum of stress at what is a busy time of the year.
